What I Eat in a Day to Stay Healthy

Since I've moved to my host family, lots of things have changed. Besides me being in Finland, I've also changed quite a few habits. And thankfully, all for the better.

The first thing that has changed was my sleeping habits. Back in Croatia when I was not working in September, I would sleep until 10 a.m. and on some days even until noon. Here, as the family is waking up early, I have to as well and now I'm awake by at least 7:00. Some days even at 6:00.

And the second thing I've improved - my eating habits. As Mari (my host mother) used to be a fitness trainer, she has still eats very healthy just like everyone else. At home, I would eat whatever I wanted; chocolate, pizza, pasta... All guilty pleasures that I miss, but at least these foods are good for the body.

Breakfast

Breakfast is actually the same as back home, I love having this one. Oatmeal with bananas and a bit of milk. Also, I've been adding a tablespoon of this amazing blueberry protein powder from Voimaruoka called Kaura Pro Mustikka. I have it at around 7:30-8:00.

Everyone makes oatmeal differently, my recipe is - take a few tablespoons, put them in the plate, add the blueberry powder and then mix it all with hot water (just enough so it covers everything). To make it more liquid, add milk. Then I cut the banana in a half and then all of it to small slices.

Lunch

Lunch is pretty early since the previous meal is too. We eat different things each day, but one meal that is more regular than the other is rice with meat. I think it's great and simple. The rice is cooked with olive oil and turmeric which gives it a yellow color.

Meat is mostly vail or chicken.

Snacks

The afternoon snacks vary, but mostly it's either a banana, apple, a protein bar or toast with salami and butter. So as each snack is different, today was toast with butter.

Dinner

The last meal of the day is at 7:00 p.m. For this day, it was tortillas and for filling I chose meat, cheese, and sour cream, my favorite ones.

Maybe not exactly the healthiest food out there, but it is more about portion size. Well, there weren't any oils in it or too much salt, so it can be considered healthy.
